Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 25, 2026

CanonBreak Media LLC (“CanonBreak,” “we,” or “us”) operates canonbreak.com (the “Site”), which publishes news, opinion, written articles, interviews, and occasional original videos. This policy explains what information we receive when you visit the Site or contact us, why we use it, and your choices. It applies to the Site and related email communications, but not to independent sites and services we link to.

1. Information we receive

If you email admin@canonbreak.com or send a tip, request, correction, or other message, we receive your email address, any name or contact details you provide, and your message and attachments.

Visitors do not create accounts or post comments on the Site. A newsletter may be offered later; if so, we will update this policy before collecting signups and explain how to unsubscribe.

2. Site visits and cookies

We use Netlify to host and deliver the Site and Sanity to manage, store, and deliver articles, images, and other editorial content. These providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser and device details, requested resources, referring pages, and the date and time of requests to deliver their services and support performance and security.

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Cookies, pixels, and similar technologies can support website functions, remember preferences, and measure how visitors use a website.

Our planned cookie and analytics services include Ketch and Google Analytics 4. When enabled:

  • Ketch manages cookie consent and records privacy preferences, including remembering visitors’ choices about optional cookies.
  • Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, measures website traffic and interactions with our content. Information processed may include pages viewed, referral sources, interactions, browser and device characteristics, and online identifiers. We use this information to understand our audience and improve our content and website performance.

Where these technologies are enabled, visitors can review and change their available cookie preferences through the Site’s “Cookie Settings” control. Where required by applicable law, we obtain consent before using nonessential cookies or similar technologies.

Browser settings may also allow you to block or delete cookies. Doing so may affect certain functions or require you to select your preferences again.

3. Why we use information

We use information to:

  • Operate, deliver, maintain, and protect the Site.
  • Answer messages and assess tips, requests, and corrections.
  • Record and honor privacy preferences.
  • Understand audience traffic and content engagement when analytics is enabled.
  • Improve our articles and website performance.
  • Meet legal obligations and protect rights.

An emailed tip does not give us permission to identify you as its source. If you need confidentiality, ask us to agree on its terms before sending sensitive material.

4. When information is shared

We share information with service providers as needed to host and deliver the Site and its content, deliver email, maintain security, and provide other operational services. These providers include Netlify and Sanity.

When enabled, Ketch processes information needed to manage consent and privacy preferences, and Google Analytics 4 processes technical and usage information for the analytics purposes described in Section 2. Their processing is subject to applicable service agreements and privacy policies.

CanonBreak does not currently display advertisements or use advertising cookies. If we introduce advertising technologies, we will update this policy to describe the providers, information involved, advertising purposes, and available choices, including whether advertisements are contextual or based on interests and browsing activity. We will provide any required consent or opt-out controls before enabling those technologies.

We may also disclose information when legally required, to respond to valid legal requests, to protect people or the Site, or as part of a business transfer, subject to applicable law.

5. External media and links

Articles may include videos, images, social posts, or other media supplied from third-party services. The providers and items vary as new articles are published.

When your browser loads one of these items, its provider may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser or device details, and the page you visited, and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy policy. Some items load when the page opens; others load after you click or play them.

Our cookie controls may not cover every interaction with an external service. You can consult the original provider’s privacy policy and controls for more information.

Links to independent websites are subject to those websites’ privacy practices.

6. Children

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not designed to collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 sent us personal information, email admin@canonbreak.com so we can assess and address it.

7. Your choices and requests

You may ask about personal information we hold about you, request correction or deletion, or exercise another right available under applicable law by emailing admin@canonbreak.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request and may retain information as applicable law permits or requires.

When available, use the Site’s “Cookie Settings” control to review or change your preferences for optional cookies and similar technologies. You may also manage cookies through your browser settings. Your choices may need to be renewed if you delete cookies or use another browser or device.

8. Retention and security

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including responding to requests, maintaining records, protecting the Site, and meeting legal requirements. The period depends on the type of information and the reason for keeping it.

We use reasonable measures intended to protect information, but no website, email, or storage system can be guaranteed secure.

9. Visitors outside the United States

CanonBreak is based in the United States. If you access the Site from elsewhere, information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those where you live.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers of personal information, we will use the required safeguards.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as our Site and practices change. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice where required by law. Material changes to how we use information already collected will be handled as applicable law requires. Questions or privacy requests may be sent to admin@canonbreak.com. The Site’s operator is CanonBreak Media LLC.
